Times arise in the lives of God's people which have special meaning in relationship to the church. We encourage you to make use of the services of your congregation at times of both joy and sorrow.
BIRTH AND BAPTISM - Children are God's gifts. They bring wonderful life and joy into families. At the time of birth please inform the church office so that pastoral care and prayer support may be extended. You will also want to speak with a pastor soon after a child is born to arrange for Holy Baptism, the Sacrament of New Birth into God's family. Pastor will help you schedule the Baptism, discuss sponsors, or answer any questions you might have about Baptism.
WEDDINGS - Marriage is a relationship that God designed at the time of creation. Planning and preparing for marriage and the wedding service can be time-consuming but also very rewarding. The wedding service is a worship service, and when you wish to have your wedding at St. John's, please speak with one of the pastors as soon as possible. He will confirm the date and arrangements on the church calendar; he will also schedule some time with you to help prepare for both the wedding and the marriage. There is a wedding guide booklet available in the church office that will address and answer many of the frequently asked questions regarding weddings at St. John's.
MOVING - When moving, either within our area or from our area, please notify the Church Office. If you are moving from our area, the Church Office is able to give you information on Lutheran churches in the area to which you are moving. You are encouraged to transfer your membership as soon as you have moved into the new area.
HOSPITALIZATION - ILLNESS - Most hospitals do not notify the church when members are patients. Please call the church office to inform the church of those hospitalized or ill and request prayers of the congregation for yourself and other loved ones who are ill, hospitalized, or in special need.
SHUT- IN Sometimes people may be confined to their home or an extended care facility for some time because of illness or injury. If you notify the church office, one of the pastors will be able to minister to you during that time.
DEATH AND BURIAL - Please notify the Church office at times of critical illness or death of a member of the congregation. When making funeral arrangements, please consider the church as a place of the celebration of the resurrection of our Lord and the hope of everlasting life in Christ.
