My story is just like that of any other Christian and is described quite well in these verses from Zecharaiah Chapter 3.

"Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right side to accuse him. The Lord said to Satan, “The Lord rebuke you, Satan! The Lord, who has chosen Jerusalem, rebuke you! Is not this man a burning stick snatched from the fire?” Now Joshua was dressed in filthy clothes as he stood before the angel. The angel said to those who were standing before him, “Take off his filthy clothes.” Then he said to Joshua, “See, I have taken away your sin, and I will put fine garments on you.” Then I said, “Put a clean turban on his head.” So they put a clean turban on his head and clothed him, while the angel of the Lord stood by.

You see, I was once clothed in sin and shame.  Not only was I born in sin, but I continued living in it as well.  There was much that Satan could say to accuse me but the Lord plucked me from the fire, forgave  me all my sin, clothed me with garments of salvation and a robe of righteousness.  He did this in love, all for the sake of Christ Jesus who took my punishment on the cross and rose again on the third day so that I could be free.  My life stands as a witness to God's faithfulness.  Amen!

Being married to, Amy, (my high school sweetheart) and to be raising our three incredible children (Josh, Caleb, and Kaitlyn) with her is an immense blessing to me.  Our children have attended school at St. John's (Josh is already at Bullock Creek H.S.), and Amy and I have had the privilege of being able to be coaches of several sports over many seasons and volunteers for many events.  We love to be involved and coach here because we know we can talk about qualities we feel are important: good character, leadership, perseverence, hard-work,  good sportsmanship, and a strong love for God and others.

I strive to live by this priority list: God first, family and friends next, then career.  Admittedly, I mess that up sometimes and may not always have my priorities straight, so I accept that I am a work-in-progress, ask for forgiveness, and try to do better next time.

Valley Lutheran in Saginaw, MI was my high school, and I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Management from Northwood University.  If anyone asks, I root for the Eagles, Lancers, Wolverines, and Timberwolves.

Deb married Michael Stark in 1997, and they are blessed with one son. In March 2009 Deb suffered a massive stroke, but with the dedication of her St. John’s family, she returned faster than her doctors thought.

Deb appreciates the quality and professional volunteers at St. John’s and that the congregation is a very welcoming church family. She loves her job at St. John’s, as she gets to meet our newest members as they join and are excited about getting involved in their new church home.
