| Blood Bank |
People are encouraged to donate blood in St. John's name at the Mid-Michigan Medical Center Ernie Wallace Memorial Blood Bank (989)839-3490 located in the lower level of the Orchard Building. |
| Calligraphy |
Use your skills in helping create different communication projects during the year. |
| Count Money |
Adults are needed to count offerings after services. The time commitment is two or so hours on a scheduled basis. |
| Church Library |
St. John's features a library with a wide variety of books from self help books, children's books to theological books. The library, located in the Weller Wing, has videos, audiotapes and books that you can check out at anytime. |
| Day of Prayer |
St. John's hosts special days of prayer during the year. People are needed to organize the Day of Prayer and individuals are encouraged to come in and pray with us. |
| Day of Caring |
Join St. John's team in a Day of Caring. There are two opportunities available: one in the fall and one in the spring. We volunteer to a home where the people need help with painting, cleaning, general repairs, etc. It only takes a short commitment from 8:00 AM - Noon. |
| Decorate for Christmas |
These are short term projects when people gather to decorate for Christmas and take down decorations. Set up for the Sharing Tree is during the second week in November. After Thanksgiving and before the first Saturday in December the sanctuary and alcoves are decorated. During the second week in January, all decorations are removed and stored. |
| Doormen/Hosts |
Doormen and hosts are at the church doors to welcome people and provide needed help. |
| Evangelism Callers |
Members of the congregation are trained to make telephone calls and visits in homes of newcomers to the community, guests who visit our church, referrals, and prospective members. Periodically, training classes are conducted on Tuesday evenings. Please contact Chairperson of CODA Board. |
| Family Ministry |
Family Ministry is a big umbrella at St. John's. We strive to meet the needs of our families. Currently we give our 3 year olds a Bible for family devotions. Third graders also receive Bibles. We plan on adding special milestones in the next few years. We also have special activity bags for children to use during the services. Family ministry surveys are reviewed periodically to better serve the needs of our families and numerous family activities are planned throughout the year. |
| Fellowship |
Ready for fun? We offer great fellowship activities during the year from road rallies, sports to Christmas shopping trips. We always look for new ideas! During Sunday mornings, we offer a relaxed setting for coffee and doughnut time before Sunday school and Adult Bible study. |
| Food |
Donations of food for use by Women of St. John's to serve at funeral dinners for bereaved families.

| Food Pantry |
Thanksgiving food basket donations are collected during the month of November. Please contact the church office if you have other food donations. |
| Gardening and Landscaping |
Help is needed for maintenance of outside areas. Contact the Director of Board of Operations.

| Hospital and Shut in Visitations |
Members visit members in the hospital and/or who are shut in. The visits are set up ahead of time and are coordinated with the pastors. |
| Office Help |
There are several areas available to serve in the church office. A few examples are: assemble mailings and bulletins, data entry, computer skills, etc. |
| Photography |
On different occasions, we need a person to take pictures of events. (i.e. new member reception, Day of Caring, youth activities, etc) |
| Prayer Chain |
The objective of our prayer chain is to promote congregational prayer and a spirit of caring for the needs of others. Call the church office with your prayer requests and to become a partner in the prayer chain.

| School Ministry |
There are several opportunities throughout the year to help; from sports to tutoring, to after school care. (See St. John's School or St. John's Preschool) |
| Scripture Readers |
Members are welcome to read the lessons at the Sunday services. |
| Social Ministry |
Believing that our Lord desires that His people serve not only the spiritual but also the physical needs, social ministry assists people with their financial challenges. Contributions may be made through offerings designated 'Social Ministry.' If you need assistance contact Pastor Janetzke. |
| Sports |
Sports opportunities include basketball, golf, softball, and volleyball. |
| St. John's Quilters |
St. John's quilters create quilts and other items to be donated to local and world-wide missions including World Relief, Crises Pregnancy Services, and hospitals. The quilters meet weekly in the Multi Purpose Room. No experience is necessary. |
| Transport People to Church |
When the need arises, we offer rides to those unable to get to church because of transportation difficulties. Contact Pastor Kempin 835-5861. |
| Ushers |
Ushers are needed for our worship services and provide opportunity for service for our post- confirmation youth and adults. |
| Worldwide Missions |
Our Mission Team seeks to raise the mission awareness of our congregation through coordinating and publicizing all activities related to our congregation's active support of five foreign missions - Slovakia, Kenya, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Hong Kong - together with a North American project, which currently is People of the Book Lutheran Outreach.. |

| Ladies Aid/LWML |
Ladies Aid exists to create fellowship and do church and charitable work. Its affiliation with LWML (Lutheran Women's Missionary League) Ladies Aid assists in the development and maintenance of mission consciousness among its members. |
| Lydia Guild/LWML |
Lydia Guild offers the opportunity for Christian fellowship, love, and growth while in service to those inside and outside of St. John's membership, The Guild sponsors a number of service projects such as college goodies bags and hymnal repair. Contact Chairperson of Lydia Guild.

This coordinating group is open to all women. They are in charge of the Harvest Dinner held in October, funeral luncheons, and sponsor special activities/events with proceeds going toward mission projects. |
